Surgical Technology Program
The Associate of Science in Surgical Technology program at the University of Saint Francis is composed of a mix of general education courses, professional courses, laboratory and clinical sessions. USF’s program is unique in that you will participate in clinical practice in actual operating rooms during all four semesters. The academic emphasis, in addition to consistent exposure to the surgical environment, will provide you with a strong foundation in your career as a surgical technologist.
The Surgical Technology course sequence begins every fall, but you may start general education classes during other semesters. While options are available for full-time or part-time attendance, clinical courses only take place during the day.
The education you obtain in the Surgical Technology program will provide you with a broad base of knowledge in the sciences, humanities, social sciences, surgical technique and operative procedures. After graduation, you will be expected to continue your professional growth by seeking national certification, developing expertise in specialty areas and supporting your professional organization.
